What sodas go well with vodka?

What sodas go well with vodka?: Vodka is a popular spirit when making cocktails. It is versatile and can be used anywhere from bars to restaurants and special events.

Vodka’s taste can vary depending on its brand and the distillation method, but it is usually quite bitter and strong. Most casual drinkers will mask the vodka’s intensity.

There are many options for making cocktails and drinks based on vodka. With the right mixers, vodka can both be enhanced and disguised.

Although everyone has their own preferences, it is clear that certain mixers are superior to others. Here are the best vodka-mixed drinks for a night in town or at home.

This ranked list is based on years of experience enjoying and experimenting with various vodka-mixer combos. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

7 best types of sodas are good to mix with vodka

  1. Club Soda
  2. Tonic Water
  3. Ginger Ale
  4. Lemon-Lime Soda
  5. Orange Soda
  6. Cola
  7. Sprite

1. Club Soda

Let’s first answer a very important question. What is club soda? It is carbonated water that has been flavoured with minerals.

Now that we have cleared this up, let’s discuss what makes the best club soda. Club soda, unlike seltzer, should be flavorful.

Club soda should have a certain amount of mineral and salinity. It should be bubbly but not too bubbly to make you sneeze.

It should also be suitable for cocktail making. It’s important to have club soda for drinks such as Mojitos, Aperol Spritzes and other alcoholic beverages.

Unfortunately, club sodas aren’t as popular anymore. I suppose seltzer and mineral water have taken over.

But I gathered all the club sodas I could find, compared them and ranked them. From fine and fizzy to excellently bubbly. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

2. Tonic Water

Many people have asked me over the years what the best tonic water is and whether they are worth it.

I gathered a group of tasters last week to try as many different tonic waters as we could. The tonics were first tasted with soda, then with gin-soda from a siphon.

Taste is subjective. You may prefer a smooth citrus flavour, while I like something floral and bitter.  Some tonics go well with gin but not vodka, and vice versa.

There is a move away from cinchona’s (quinine) flavour, possibly due to claims that some companies don’t practice sustainable harvesting.

Choose the qualities that are important to you based on our tasting notes. You may want to factor in the price of some wines. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

3. Ginger Ale

These days, ginger ale is used for more than stomachaches. This complex drink is spicy, sweet and gingery.

Ginger is said to be a cure-all. Ginger ale is a wonderful addition to mocktails, adding body and zing to non-alcoholic drinks.

While it is high in sugar, ginger beer can be substituted for beer at bars that don’t have many non-alcoholic drinks.

Let’s first clarify that ginger ale is not ginger beer. Ginger beer is fermented and brewed. Ginger ale is made of water and ginger.

Because it is brewed, ginger beer has a stronger flavour. It’s usually less carbonated. There are far too many choices in both categories.

We couldn’t wait for one of the most famous ginger ales to be tasted against its competitors. Below, you’ll find 9 ginger ale-tasting notes. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

4. Lemon-Lime Soda

PepsiCo has a new goal: replacing Sierra Mist, the lemon-lime beverage it was known for, with Starry.

Sprite, the current lemon-lime king, has not been able to be unseated by Mist Twist. Will reaching for the stars bring the sales growth Pepsi wants?

It’s so similar not only to its predecessor but also to all lemon-lime drinks. You can tell that Pepsi and Coke have the same taste but differ in some ways.

I tried the regular and no-sugar versions. I found a greater difference between them than between Starry and the competition.

The zero-sugar version is my favourite because I am used to it, and it tastes better. The full-sugar Starry tasted syrupy, but someone else may think differently. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

5. Orange Soda

I really wanted to like Jones Orange Chocolate Soda. I could have been the perfect match for this flavour combination! I love weird sodas and am a chocoholic.

This is a drink I’m not crazy about. I look for Terry’s Chocolate Oranges at Christmas to get that sweet-tart combination.

The orange soda is almost too tart. It’s missing a little contrast. This drink lacks the addictive sweetness of Orange Crush, Sunkist and other orange sodas.

After the first orange sip, an overwhelming flavour doesn’t have the creamy delight of a chocolate drink. You’d expect the chocolate taste to be a sweet river.

Unfortunately, I wanted the orange chocolate portion to dominate or at least earn 50% of its taste. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

6. Cola

I love flavoured Coke. By “flavoured Coke”, I mean any cola infused with another flavour, such as Pepsi mango-flavoured, or yes, flavoured Coca-Cola’s, at least most of them.

Cherry and Vanilla Coca-Cola is my favourite, but I still miss Orange Vanilla Coke. It also did Cinnamon Coca-Cola at Christmas some years ago.

I have not liked the “Mystery Flavors” from the Coca-Cola Creations in the past two years. The abstract flavours were meant to taste emotions, concepts, or even those created by famous people.

The ones I liked were few, but there were so many that they blended into one. Now, I don’t know which ones were the two.

I was excited to try Coca-Cola Spiced because it sounded so good. “Raspberry Spiced” (and other natural flavourings). [What sodas go well with vodka?]

7. Sprite

Sprite doesn’t release new flavours every day. We usually only see one new flavour each calendar year, and they have a mixed record.

The news last year about “Sprite chill” in 2024 was exciting. Sprite Chill, however, isn’t only a flavour.

This proprietary blend of cooling agents is supposed to make this the “coldest” soda without accompanying flavour.

We risked frostbite to test the full-sugar and the zero-sugar versions of Sprite Chill Cherry Lime.

The flavor balance in Zero Sugar Sprite Chill is superior. The cooling agents seem to mix better with aspartame. Sprite Chill Zero Sugar is my first choice. [What sodas go well with vodka?]

conclusion:

The versatility of vodka makes it a great partner for a wide variety of sodas. There’s something for everyone, whether you like the sharpness of club water, the bitterness or sweetness of fruity sodas, or a combination of both.

Do not hesitate to experiment and try different garnishes and combinations to create the perfect cocktail. Cheers to delicious drinks! [What sodas go well with vodka?]
